Sunday dinner with GG and GP

Since being home from vacation in August we haven't been able to see Sean's grandparents. Usually when there is a birthday we go over and celebrate but there hasn't been any recently. We headed over there today to have a nice dinner with them and watched the cowboys lose. Joan makes the best banana pudding and it is to die for.

Kurt brought their bird over and lylah did great with her. She even wanted it on her shoulder, so here are a couple cute photos.

Also lylah is all about the men these days and wanted to snuggle with GGP while drinking her milk. Just precious

Trying to stay young

Our lives are pretty routine and possibly a little boring, but we are spicing it up a little. During the beginning of the summer Sean and I started co- Ed volleyball. That was actually a lot of fun. Two weeks ago we started fall volleyball but not co-Ed. So our Thursdays consist of being at the church for 3 hours. Usually we referring, or one of us is playing and the other watches Lylah. We have become quite the volleyball lovers! I joined a softball team and we have games in Friday nights. It brings me back to when I was a child and all my life consisted of was softball. I'd like to add that I am a much better hitter than I was back then. Sean is teaching swim lessons and running occasionally. We are trying to stay young. People say all the time, but y'all are young! Well about that, my body hurts all the time and isn't looking any younger.
I don't have pics of our awesomeness at these sports but I do of randomness around our house.

She is obsessed with this hat!!!

Say what

Everyday this little girl keeps us laughing.

Today a we are driving to church she says " you've got to be kidding me."

Or when I tell our dog abby "no" she says "Mom, she's fine don't worry about it.

Then the other day she wanted juice, but knew she wasn't going to get it and she says "no juice only water." When I went to fill it up she saying "careful, careful"

I just love it! I had to document this because I really only kept record of her first year and I'm trying to get a little better.

Cute pic. Sean hurt his toe mowing and lylah thought putting my body lotion on him would help. What a patient dad?!

Obsessed

This dog is obsessed with food. She knows there is food on the other side of this door... Oh Abby what would we do without you always at our feet while we eat?

Poor Simba

On vacation, Steve and Lexi brought their two children (cats) to my in laws house for the week. Poor kitty didn't have a chance once Lylah saw him.

Everything was about Simba and where he was. She would sit with him in his bed and pretty much pick him up and not so softly. I am sure Simba is catching up on his Zzzzzz's.

And he's out!!!!

There is a first time for everything

At the beginning of August we finally got to get out of Texas for a week. Sean's grandparents celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Holy moly that is a long time! The fam wanted to do a mini vacation at bear lake for a few days. I only have pics from my phone and thy have nothing to do with what I'm talking about for the most part, but what is a blog post without pics.

Side note: as a child I only went on like one vacation and that was to Austin,Texas to see the capitol. So needless to say I was very anxious and work had just finished busy season I was ready for much needed break.
We were there for too many days to write out what all we did, but I experienced a lot of FIRSTS. We went through a cave and randomly learned that if you shine a laser on a real diamond it reflected red dots all around you. It was pretty cool and had nothing to do with the cave. Haha We also went out on a bout and tubed for a while which I had never done. I have been missing out, it was so much fun. Lylah went tubing also and did a great job with my mother in law. Sean learned to water ski and killed it. I never knew my husband was good at water sports. Sean did a tri relay with his siblings and that was definitely a first for him.

I was super impressed and he looked smokin hot crossing the finish line.

Now y'all are going to think I'm silly on this one, but I rode a horse for the first time. Ha it was great! Our little cousin, Makaylie, wanted to ride and Pat had an employee, who brought his horses out for us to ride. It was so nice of them.

Those are just a few highlights of our trip. We loved hanging out with family, visiting friends, eating Costa Vida and just being in Utah!

Visitors

This past weekend we had all sorts of craziness. I was out of town for part of it. Andy and Anjelica came to visit and Luis,Natalia, and Gracie were in town with family. I was sad because last time the Merinos were in town I was out of town and I hadn't got to see baby Gracie yet. I was determined to meet her this time. I came home early Sunday afternoon to hang out with everyone. Sean made homemade lasagna which was amazing. We played card games and later Natalia and the baby came over for a visit.

My child's smile is killer

I was glad for the few minutes to catch up and see great friends. I had to work so Sean hung out with everyone more than I so sorry if I left a lot out.
While Andy and Anjelica were here we got to go to be Dallas zoo. We had a lot of fun with riding the camel, feeding the birds, and feeding the giraffes. I love getting to see them every july.

Could not keep her off this

Goodbye Auntie and Timber

This past weekend we has a lot going on. We had a few friends in town. Some from New Mexico and some came from las Vegas which we will get to next post. This one is about my sweet sister. This weekend we had a going away party for my sister because she is moving to JAPAN. Eehhh what am I going to do with my sister gone?

Oh boy! I am going to miss my big sister and I am not sure that I would have said that as a teenager. We fought all the time and were so different. In high school she was a senior and I was a freshman and we refused to talk to each other. I love that we can tell each other exactly how we feel. I am so happy that she finally gets to be with her husband in Japan, but a little but of me is selfish and wished she stayed in Texas longer. It is cool to see my sister grow, we were pretty sheltered growing up but she is getting to explore the world and that makes me happy. Sister we will miss you and plan to Skype all the time!!!!

So sweet

Sean texted me these pictures while I was at work. Lylah told him "I am going to wait for mommy to come home."

it melted my heart. As most of you know Lylah is a daddy's girl and still is even though he is home with her all day. It is nice to know she still loves me too.

Too precious!! Love her

Whatever works

Last night I came home from work and we have a tradition on Friday nights. I bring home food and we watch a movie after Lylah is in bed. I brought home some pizza and wings and about half way through dinner lylah Was finished but still let us eat in peace. She was taking all the dishwasher soap out of the container to the table and back.

Then she heard me take a picture of her so she turns around for another one

then she says oh picture cheese

and finally he had to get next to the cabinets and pose.

It was actually really cute. Yes most of our posts are about her but she is where all the excitement is at!! Enjoy

Happy Birthday America

Booooo I just wrote a huge blog with pics and all of a sudden it all disappeared so now you all get the short version.

On the 4th we started our day out with breakfast with our ward. We played volleyball, ultimate frisbee, face painting, toy riding, etc. Lylah had a blast with several of her friends pushing each other in this car and swapping sunglasses. We thought she would be pooped and want to nap bit we were sadly mistaken. Around 3 we headed to the nelsons to eat and swim. Everytkme we go Sean teaches lylah a little more to swim. She is doing great but tries just about anything in the water which is a little scary. She jumped off the ledge multiple times with and without floates.

Then at 630 we made our way to Rockwall to play at the spray park and what for the fireworks. A buch of people from our church went and it was great to relax a little bit. I am so glad Lylah is potty trained but it was frustrating because the women's line was so long ht finally Sean had to take her because of course there is no line for men. The fireworks were great an they had a lot of new ones I had never seen before.

Ok so I have tried several times writing a post from my iPhone, but I don't know how to add a picture from phone. Help please?! A lot has happened in our dandy lives sine the last post. Lylah had her 2nd birthday, that as shared with her cousin Timber. We celebrated Easter with my family and played a lot of fun games. I found out my cousin, Michelle, is pregnant. I think of her more like a sister because when we were little we were joint at the hip. Sean has changed his job and is staying home with lylah while he opens our own popcorn store. We really hope we can do it! I am still working as a manager at Palm Beach Tan and I love it! Busy season was Busy!!! I seriously had no time to do anything and I was so exhausted I lilt I went to bed every night at 8 or 9. I know I'm old. Sean and I celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary. We kept it simple and went to In and Out burger and then to a movie. It sounds lame but that's what we love to do. This year has been full of changes but we love it and can't wait to see what the rest of the year brings us. Hopefully I will blog more than twice a year, especially I I can learn to post pics from my phone.

I am an.....

AWFUL blogger. I look at other blogs all the time, I guess I'm just too lazy to update my own. So here is an update and pics will follow soon, once again I am too lazy to walk upstairs to get pics off our computer. I guess if I had an iPhone this would be a lot easier. Let's start with little lylah who is 22 months. I can't believe how big my baby is. She just moved into her toddler bed and loves it. We have to follow a routine for her to go to bed without a fight. It goes like this, bath time, fed the fish ( I just realized we haven't named them) read a book with daddy and say prayers, then give kisses and hugs. The first few nights were rough because she can open her door with the child proof handle, little stinker. She is our energizer bunny who goes goes goes all the time. She talks and repeats everything we say. Loves to sing EVERYDAY her abcs, popcorn popping, wheels on the bus , book of Mormon stories, etc. I love Watching her do the motions! We love her to pieces. I am Still managing a tanning salon and I love it and Sean is keeping busy at the popcorn store. Wevegot a few other things in the works and will tell more details a little later.

Balloon Festival

This year we decided to check out the Balloon Festival in Plano.  We thought since Lylah is a little older she would really enjoy it.  We got there a little late and there were TONS of people.  It was really neat to look at all the different kinds of ballons.  They had a ladybug which was my favorite! They decided not to let the balloons up in the air because of the weather but it was still neat to see them all light up.  Overall it was successful and that was my first time to see a hot air ballon in person.  Wow, I am sheltered!

As of Lately

Life has been a bit intense lately and so much is going on in our lives that I find little time to actually sit down and blog. Sean is still working at Popcorn Papa and really liking it. I figured that if I am going to work I might as well make it worth it and so now I am the assistant manager at Palm Beach Tan.  I am making my way to becoming a manager.  I really enjoy what I do and love to SALE the product. I have been thinking a lot lately about how our life now is not really what I planned it to be.  At first it was kind of hard to accept but now that I have accepted it I am ok with it.  I know it sounds so selfish. We found a babysitter who really loves Lylah and her kids love Lylah.  She is very flexible because we both have retail hours and she is willing to watch Lylah anytime.  She has her on a few times a week sometimes for 3 hours and sometimes for 6 hours so not too bad.

Now on to the craziness in our household.  So a couple Sundays ago I had to work from 3-9pm.  I got a phone call from Sean at 7:40 that he was trying to make fried chicken and was heating the oil and while that was happening he went to the restroom and came out finding it on fire and about 4 ft high. (Side note: Sean has cooked with oil like once when he sauted some veggies with were delish and thought it would be fun to try something different with oil.)  His first thought was to get it out of the house because luckily on the pan was on fire.  He grabbed it with his right hand to take  it out the back door, but while doing that the flames and grease burnt his hand pretty bad.Once the flames were out he couldn't do anything to his hand for about 30 min. because the fire alarms where going off, which then woke Lylah up and freaked her out.

I called a friend whose husband is a Dr. and we were able to go over there when I got off for him to have a look at it.  (Side note: I was freaking because I wasn't sure how bad the whole situation was and knowing that Sean and Lylah's new insurance hadn't gone into effect yet.)  Sean ended up having first and second degree burns on his hand.  Poor guy was and still is miserable.  It's been two week and went through a bottle of Naproxen. Sleeps on the couch every night because one night when he tried to sleep in the bed he hit his hand on everything. He has to wear a plastic glove over it at work and that doesn't feel the best.  His had finally looks like skin instead of open flesh and the burns are healing pretty well.  We were very lucky that the house didn't catch on fire and that we only had to replace our microwave and a piece of wood and two air filters.  I was able to get the black off the walls and wood with magic erasers. Love those things.  We do want to really thank Stephanie and Gerardo because when this happened Sean called his dad and they called Steph to pick up the burn ointment to bring over immediately and watch Lylah so we could go to the Dr.  That really helped out a ton.

What is the saying people use? When things happen they all happen at once!  All of us are under the weather right now with a mild cold and on drugs. Poor Lylah has had a rough week, bruise on her face from running into the table, blister on her foot and she wouldn't walk for a day, then she had some kind of rash under her arm pit and luckily the Dr. said it was only contact dermatitis and the cream is working wonderfully.  Sean and I just had to sit down and laugh about everything the other day because this is life.  Its not perfect and never will be.  All of the experiences we go through teach us and we learn and some times it helps put a lot things into perspective.  I know The fire could have been much worse but it wasn't and now it will be a memory that we can look back at and laugh about Sean cooking with oil.

Here are some pics:

This was a couple hours after it happen. The white is the burn medicine. Not too bad right?
                                                                     Poor microwave
Good thing the flames didn't get to those cook books or we might have been in trouble
                                                              Bottom of microwave
Before the clean-up besides Sean cleaning the stove
This was the next day much worse
And new microwave and cleaned the paint and wood next I just have to repaint the ceiling
